In 1992 Giulio Bertrand retired to South Africa from Italy and bought the historic farm Morgenster, which dates back to 1711. Retirement however was to elude him because he became enthused with the potential of the terroir. Never one to set small goals, he determined to plant vines to produce wines that would rival the best of France. read more »

Giulio Bertrand had a vision to produce world class Bordeaux style wines on his estate. His initial appraisal of the Morgenster terroir turned out to be accurate, as subsequent analysis has revealed a number of favourable attributes. read more »
Harvesting
Harvest time is from mid-February to sometimes as late as mid-April. Prior to the harvest much time is spent in the vineyards tasting the grapes to determine optimal ripeness. read more »
