Nose: Striking, unabashed opulence greets you with gusto. Red and black Merlot fruit abound, offset with the most fragrant spice of the Petit Verdot and enhanced with blueberry, blackberry and cassis of the Cabernet Sauvignon.

Palate: Offerings of great opulence, balanced perfectly with a natural acidity that is the backbone to this age worthy wine. Once in the mouth, classical aromas spread, showing pencil shavings and earthy undertones with a more prominent concentration of sweet cherry and blackcurrant. Colour: Deep, concentrated burgundy red; reminiscent of heavy velvet drapes.
Nose: The first impression is clearly a lovely, rich dark chocolate with attractive spicy support. There are nuances of black cherries, black berries and ripe plums.
Palate: Slightly candy-coated tannins that create the impression of the interaction between fruit, acid and tannin. The black cherries on the nose come through to the palate as cherry kernels; marzipan and stone fruit. The finish is impressively long.

Colour: Dense purple with great depth and concentration. 
Nose: Terrific intensity and purity highlight a gorgeous perfume of sweet black cherries, roast herbs, meat juices, kirsch, blackberries, spice ... as the wine evolves the aromas come in waves. 
Palate: If pressed for a one word descriptor, opulent would be the word for the 2004 Flagship of the Morgenster Estate. It's full bodied with more structure, tannin and delineation than the top vintages 2003 and 2001.

Morgenster White 2014
Morgenster White is made in a classic Bordeaux style to complement what people expect from a Morgenster red blend: elegance with concentration,complexity and longevity.

This graceful Bordeaux white offers bright, fresh aromas and flavors of apricot, pineapple and litchi, with subtle hints of quince, citrus and caramel. It balances ripe fruit and perfectly integrated oak with a mouth watering minerality. Fresh acidity gives it great staying power and adds a well crafted focus and length.

Nose: Sweet whiffs of blackberry are at the fore, with ripe bramble and fresh plum. Also very prominent and intriguing are Cabernet Franc’s cinnamon and nutmeg influences. There are some classical herbaceous notes found in lavender and thyme, ending with yummy coffee and toffee.
Palate: Elegant entry, very plush and immediately filling and rewarding. All the enticing sweetness evident on the nose returns to the fore. Acidity, savoury and sweetness blend harmoniously and the rounded silky tannins are already soft and velvety.

Morgenster Lourens River Valley 2010
Colour: Opaque centre with lighter brick red edges, young and vibrant red.
Nose: Very fresh and vibrant flavor profile. Blackcurrant and cherry sweetness, with spicy clove, chive, anis and butter developments. Well integrated vanilla, cacao and caramel smoothes over into the palate.
Palate: Velvet entry, very plush and immediately filling. Sweeter dark berry fruits are very evident and contribute well to balance. Spicy sweet Cabernet Franc does well to pull the blend back into the classical category. Rounded silky tannins are already soft and velvety. Beautiful balance and great finesse round off a stunner of a vintage.Keeping with the philosophy behind Lourens River Valley Kotzé focused on letting the fruit do the talking, making the wine a true reflection of the terroir and what can be achieved with it in any given vintage. It was a smaller than usual crop but excellent quality prevailed. For Morgenster, the 2010 vintage can be tipped as a winner.

Palate: Great entry with good sweet fruit and white chocolate on palate. Beautiful round supple tannins. Great balance and length to end off a well made wine. This wine will seamlessly integrate further into a masterpiece, like all before it.

Colour: Deep ruby red.
Nose: Ripe, expressive and welcoming nose gets one off to a good start. Additional scents include light toasted tobacco, liquorice, spice, herbs and of course red and black berry fruit.
Palate: Youthful, lovely sweet entry with just enough intensity and mouth feel. The complexity of the aromatics is equaled in the palate flavour profile. It's not a heavyweight and has moderate tannins. One feels seduced by this modern styled wine’s elegance and balance rather than by sheer power, as is the tendency from this vintage. The fruit is sweet and inviting, while the finish is long and consistent.

Colour: Concentrated and vibrant; dark mulberry red. 
Nose: This wine carries a subtle perfume of wild flowers, sub-tropical fruit, cinnamon and vanilla oak spice.
Palate: The palate senses blackcurrants, liquorice and spice, a freshly integrated, balanced acid and tannin ratio with youthful expression. The tannins have a firm grip that show the long path of evolution ahead, but they are certainly neither 'clawy' nor aggressive. The future bodes well for this 2005 vintage.

Colour: Deep ruby-red.

Palate: Silky sweet in the mouth, with beautiful ripe fruit that's still young and wound tight. The finish is 'text book' fine-grain tannins and superb subtle persistence. Give this wine some special treatment by decanting it about an hour prior to serving and it will reward your efforts by emphasising these characteristics.

Colour: A true reflection of the vintage, wines of distinction were produced; one of very few that reflects vibrant colour; a deep centre with an attractive stable Burgundian red tint.
Nose: Earthy, spicy aromas support and amplify nuances of liquorice, cinnamon, chocolate, mocha and vanilla. The bouquet reminds one of the scent of our indigenous plant fynbos; its herbaceous character. Aeration will release flavourful esters of dark mulberry, plum and strong red grape aromas.
Palate: The stimulation on the palate is mild and expressive to show great personality. Finely knitted tannins interlacing the spice and fruit flavour to offer a fresh entry with good structure and length to a pleasant finish. The character lingers and leaves a pleasant dryness.

Colour: Plum red with a concentrated core depth demonstrates the richness of the wine.
Nose: Aromas of black cherry, cassis, strawberry shortcake, toast and cedar.
Palate: The entry offers sweet nuances with toasty oak, a medley of fresh ripe berries and notes of marzipan and vanilla. The oak-spice compliments the fruit and expresses a good layer of acid and tannin balance. The mouth-feel is complimented by a well textured mid-palate weight, great overall elegance without presence of clumsiness on the finish.

Colour: Strikingly fresh, concentrated and deep plum colour.
Nose: Fresh nuances of cherry, blackcurrant and liquorice carried by undertones of vanilla spice and some oak wood. A flinty, earthy, mushroom (or is it truffles) as a second nose gives one the impression of a unique, terroir-specific character rather than a certain cultivar expression.
Palate: The rather sweet nuances of the dominating Merlot component offers exactly those fruit flavours carried from the first impression. A classic style with a subtle mouth feel brought upon by the successful marriage of the components.

Palate: Balance is the name of this Italian masterpiece and Caruso does its namesake proud. Rich and elegant, it has a soft, velvety feel but with enough focus and length. There is a wonder full freshness of berries and cranberry type tanginess which leaves you anticipating the next blissful sip.

Morgenster Cabernet Sauvignon 2013
Colour: Deep ruby purple, with a beautiful youthful hue.
Nose: Classical Cabernet Sauvignon traits of lush cassis concentrated fruit are very evident with capsicum and eucalyptus freshness also playing a part.
Palate: Sumptuously smooth with some fine tannins to broaden palate weight. A delicious example of young Cabernet. Rich red fruit flavours abound, layering black currants, cherries and plums and undertones of warm spice and tobacco.

Morgenster Cabernet Franc 2015
Colour: Deep ruby purple, with a beautiful youthful hue.
Nose: Some classical Cabernet franc traits are already evident in the lush cassis concentrated fruit and cinnamon, with peanut and clove like spice also playing a part.
Palate: A delicious example of young Cabernet franc. Rich red fruit flavours abound; black currants, cherries and plums. Undertones of warm spice and tobacco.

Morgenster Sangiovese 2017
Colour: Vibrant, youthful, ruby red
Nose: Powerful flavours of every variety abound on this nose. Cassis, cherry, raspberry, coffee, almond and vanilla undertones. There are also subtle notes of rose petals, lavender and some mint.
Palate: Fruit sweetness initially, with a lingering freshness of cherry and dark prune which is very appealing. Tannins are well managed and soft, with a soft, elegant acidity.

Morgenster Sauvignon Blanc 2017
Colour: Bright lemon with a tinge of green.
Palate: This elegantly crafted wine has gracious balance and poise, with soft lingering acidity giving way to a sweet concentration of fruit. Some herbaceous austerity also adds to the interest.
Nose: Tropical flavours abound in this Sauvignon Blanc, displaying litchi, melon, mango and some notes of paprika and thyme.

Morgenster Vespri 2017
Nose:  Initially flinty minerality, but also a sweet muscat perfume, yellow fruit and ripe peaches.
Palate: Beautifully balanced: a zingy acidity but not overwhelming, a full flavoursome palate, crisp and dry, overlaid with sweet muscat fruit notes.

Morgenster Nu Series 1 Merlot 2014
Colour: Deep dark red.
Nose: Red, black and bramble berries, classic pencil shaving, graphite, cedar.
Palate: Sumptuously smooth with enough fine tannin to broaden the palate weight and add an extra dimension to a very fruit driven experience.

Morgenster Nu Series 1 Sauvignon Blanc 2016
Colour: Bright lemon with a tinge of green.
Nose: Tropical aromas abound in this Sauvignon blanc, with litchi, melon and mango notes floating above hints of paprika and thyme.
Palate: A delight in the mouth, this elegantly crafted wine offers gracious balance and poise. The soft lingering acidity gives way to a beautiful sweet concentration of fruit on the palate. Some herbaceous notes also teases interest.
